ELF was invited by the International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO) to facilitate some focus groups as part of GetReal, an EU-funded research project it is part of.
IAPO’s role in the research group is to gather and voice patients’ perspectives and views with regards to clinical trials and clinical research in general. This is an important opportunity for patients and patient organisations to make their voice heard and ensure that clinical trials are designed in a way that is responsive to patients’ needs and reflective of their views.
To find patients to take part in the focus group, we contacted all of the patient ambassadors who have completed the European Patient Ambassador Programme module on research and development.
15 people from the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and the UK agreed to take part in three focus groups in Sheffield and London mid-July.
We will keep you posted on the outcomes of these focus groups.
