On 11 June, 2015 members of the European Lung Foundation lung cancer patient advisory group came together in Brussels to discuss patient priorities in the treatment and care of lung cancer across Europe.
The group has been working together since January, 2015 and consists of 12 patients, caregivers and patient organisation representatives from seven European countries.
The aim of the workshop was to:
Among the topics discussed were research priorities and the relationship between patients and healthcare professionals.
The group set out its plans for further action, including a European patient survey, a session at the European Respiratory Society International Congress in Amsterdam in September and the launch of a patient-led website.
The workshop participants gave positive feedback on the session, and were hopeful that their involvement could help positively influence care and treatment.
