On 9–11 April, 2016 we attended the 7th Global Patients’ Congress of the International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations (IAPO) in London.

Kerstin, who handles ELF training and events, attended the congress, which brought together around 200 patient advocates from across the world. Organisations of all sizes shared best practice, gained insight into pressing healthcare issues and met with others passionate about patient-centred healthcare.

While at the event, Kerstin presented on the European Patient Ambassador Programme (EPAP) during a session on innovative collaborations to increase the impact of patient organisations. The presentation raised a lot of interest for EPAP among organisations from a number of different countries, such as Malta, Croatia, Kosovo and Canada.

We hope that this will help spread the word about EPAP as a tool for people with chronic conditions all over the world to be empowered and get involved in their healthcare at a higher level.

IAPO itself is interested in working with us towards developing their own advocacy tool for patients and we hope we will be able to collaborate using EPAP in this process.
