The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the International Society for Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) recently updated their expert opinion on the management of a type of lung cancer in elderly people.
Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common form of the disease, and half of all people diagnosed with the condition are aged 70 or older.
The article, published in the Annals of Oncology, includes recommendations for screening, surgery, treatments of the condition at various stages, as well as new data on patient preferences and geriatric assessment. This updates the last version, which was released in 2010.
