Global health experts have warned of the potentially ‘catastrophic’ risks of further climate change to human health.
The paper, published by the prestigious medical journal, The Lancet, is the result of a major research project carried out by scientists from across Europe and China. They aimed to learn more about the impact of climate change on human health.
The scientists found that climate change poses a major health threat, citing lung conditions, heart conditions, diabetes, obesity and stroke as health issues that can be linked with the phenomenon.
Among their recommendations to reduce the impact of climate change on lung health in particular is to cut air pollution by phasing out coal and moving to greener energy sources, and by encouraging more people to walk and cycle.
