A study has found that exposure to household mould can have severe effects on asthma.
The research, published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, involved a review of 17 studies which took place in eight different countries into the relationship between indoor mould and asthma symptoms.
The researchers found that exposure to several types of mould may increase the risk of developing the condition, as well as worsening the symptoms among the people that already have it.
These findings highlight the need for homes to be heated, ventilated and maintained appropriately in order to prevent the presence of mould.
