World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is fast approaching, and the theme this year is ‘Tobacco and Lung Health’.
ELF will be working closely with the European Respiratory Society (ERS) across social media to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with the #NoTobacco campaign, but we need your help to spread the word.
Do you have experience of stopping smoking?
If you or someone you know has stopped smoking, we would love to hear about your experience, how you were able to stop smoking and how stopping smoking has benefitted you. We will share people’s experiences on social media in the week beginning 27 May to help inspire and motivate people to get help to stop smoking. You can send your stories and photos to us on Facebook or Twitter, or by email to info@europeanlung.org.
Twitter chat
ELF and ERS will be hosting a live Twitter chat to talk about how governments, organisations and individuals can help people to stop smoking on 28 May from 15:00 CEST / 14:00 BST. The chair of ELF, Isabel Saraiva, will be taking part in the discussion, as well as experts from ERS. Join the chat using the hashtag #NoTobaccoChat – comments and questions ahead of time are welcome!

Facebook live
ELF will also be co-hosting a Facebook live event on 29 May. We will be talking about different forms of tobacco and nicotine, as well as what ERS and ELF are doing to advocate for stop smoking initiatives and policies. We are looking forward to receiving lots of questions before and during the event for our experts to answer.
