ELF Chair Monica Fletcher receives OBE for services to nursing in the UK

British Queen's Birthday list honours ELF chair with OBE for services to nursing in the UK.

ELF Chair, Monica Fletcher, is to be awarded with an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from the British Queen’s Birthday List, for her services to nursing and nurse education in the UK.

The OBE is a prestigious award in the UK that recognises distinguished service to the arts and sciences, public services outside the Civil Service and work with charitable and welfare organisations of all kinds.

Monica started her career as a nurse and worked in several management and training roles. She was one of the first trainers at National Respiratory Training Centre (NRTC), which later became Education for Health, where she is now Chief Executive.

Monica has always had an interest in respiratory health and has balanced her work at Education for Health with being ELF Chair since 2010.

Monica said: “I am passionate about making a difference to patient care. From the day I went into clinical nursing my aim was to improve the care that patients receive and I am now able to achieve this through excellence in education, research and advocacy nurses, as well as directly working with patients and patient organisations within the family of the ELF.”
