Research from the EXPLAIN-IT project was presented at the Global Exposome Summit 2026, held 27–29 April in Sitges, Spain.
Researcher Shanshan Xu presented the poster “Exposome and chronic lung diseases: a systematic review protocol” covering ongoing work from Work Package 2 of EXPLAIN-IT. The study evaluates existing evidence on the exposome and chronic lung diseases, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung diseases. The project has recently completed the data extraction phase and is ongoing, with further results expected.
The Global Exposome Summit 2026, organised by the International Human Exposome Network and the Global Exposome Forum, brought together researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to strengthen international collaboration in exposome research.
