Milestone MS25 Achieved – Learning Materials and First Education Sessions Completed

04/12/2025

Let’s celebrate together: the JARED project has just reached Milestone MS25, a significant step in its mission to combat chronic respiratory diseases across Europe!

We are strengthening respiratory health — one step at a time.

JARED’s Coordination Team is pleased to announce the successful completion of Milestone MS25, marking a key achievement within Work Package 8 of the Joint Action specifically targeted at reaching high-risk populations.

As part of Task 8.2, the project has developed a comprehensive set of learning materials on bronchial asthma and the self-management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for both patients and healthcare workers involved in nursing care. Besides many else, these materials include practical guidance on relevant symptoms, self-care strategies, “red flags,” and instructions on remote monitoring tools.

The first pilot education session for representatives of remote primary healthcare centres took place on the 24th October, 2025. During this training, participants received:

• An overview of the JARED study design

• Training on the Telecare platform used for monthly health monitoring

• Guidance on patient recruitment and informed consent

• Instructions on secure and anonymised data transfers

• The full package of educational materials for patients and nurses

A second education session took place on the 28th November, 2025 to ensure full preparation across all pilot sites.

These activities form the foundation of an upcoming six-month pilot study, during which patients from six remote primary care centres will be divided into two groups: one receiving nurse-led support and one managing their health independently, utilizing the educational materials and tools provided. In essence, the study will evaluate whether regular professional guidance improves patient engagement, adherence, and self-management in chronic respiratory diseases.

Milestone MS25 lays the groundwork for high-quality, evidence-based implementation and is a significant step toward improving asthma and COPD self-management in remote and underserved regions.
