Let’s celebrate together: the JARED project has just reached Milestone MS5, a significant step in its mission to combat chronic respiratory diseases across Europe!
We are strengthening respiratory health — one step at a time.
JARED’s Coordination Team is pleased to announce the successful completion of Milestone MS5, a broad-scale engagement activity targeting health care professionals, which marks a key achievement within Work Package 2 of the Joint Action.
Delivered on 19 November 2025 in connection with World COPD Day, this milestone represents the official start of a long-term communication and education strategy aimed at improving respiratory health across Europe.
At the heart of Milestone 5 was the development of a dedicated educational leaflet on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Designed specifically for clinical use, the leaflet focuses on early symptom recognition, key risk factors, and the importance of timely diagnosis, supporting health care professionals in identifying COPD earlier and therefore improving patient outcomes. The scientific content and illustrations were developed by experts from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), while the visual design was created by Greek project partners ensuring clarity, accessibility, and professional appeal.
The leaflet was reviewed and approved by the project coordination team to guarantee scientific accuracy and alignment with JARED’s objectives. It was then distributed to all participating countries and made publicly available through the European Respiratory Society (ERS) website, in collaboration with the European Lung Foundation (ELF). This enhances wide visibility, credibility, and easy access for health care professionals across Europe.
Beyond raising immediate awareness about COPD, this milestone laid the groundwork for continuous engagement with health care professionals through future activities linked to major international respiratory health days. Planned actions include educational initiatives around World Asthma Day, World No Tobacco Day, and other key awareness dates in 2026 and 2027, covering topics such as early diagnosis, guideline-based treatment, rational pharmacotherapy, smoking cessation, and the prevention of beta-2 agonist overuse.
Overall, Milestone MS5 successfully launched JARED’s outreach to health care professionals, reinforcing the concept that awareness, education, and prevention are essential first steps toward better respiratory health, and establishing a strong foundation for sustained collaboration and capacity-building across Europe.
