Let’s celebrate together: the JARED project has just reached Milestone MS10, a significant step in its mission to combat chronic respiratory diseases across Europe!
We are strengthening respiratory health — one step at a time.
JARED’s Coordination Team is pleased to announce the successful completion of Milestone MS10, an online survey for primary health care (PHC) professionals involved in childhood immunisation, which marks a key achievement within Work Package 5 of the Joint Action.
This survey aimed to gather country-level insights into vaccination practices, organisational frameworks, barriers, and support needs related to the delivery of children’s vaccination services within primary care settings. It has been developed to better understand how such services are organised and delivered by PHC specialists across participating countries.
The findings indicate variability in organisational models and support mechanisms throughout the process. While vaccination services are widely embedded in primary care structures, differences exist in terms of coordination with public health authorities, data systems, reminder mechanisms, and access to updated guidance.
Respondents highlighted the central role of PHC professionals in building trust with families and ensuring continuity of care. At the same time, several structural challenges were identified, including administrative burden, time constraints, and communication difficulties related to vaccine hesitancy.
The survey also points to opportunities for strengthening training, improving information tools, and enhancing system-level support to facilitate efficient and equitable vaccine delivery.
Milestone MS10 provides an important evidence base for further work under Work Package 5, supporting the development of practical recommendations to strengthen primary care capacity in delivering childhood vaccination services, and reinforce prevention strategies in general.
