Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis continue to place a heavy burden on individuals and healthcare systems throughout Europe. In response, numerous research initiatives, clinical networks, and public health projects have emerged to tackle different aspects of these conditions—from early diagnosis and innovative treatments to health equity and environmental risk reduction.

The EU4Health-funded project, LungHealth4Life (LH4L), is introducing the concept of lung health checks and education on health risks in schools to promote disease prevention. The project will encourage children to look after their lungs from a young age and encourage changes to behaviour to reduce the risk of developing lung conditions.
