WP1 Leader

WP1 focuses on ensuring the effective coordination and successful implementation of the JARED Joint Action throughout its entire lifecycle. The Work Package provides the management framework needed to keep activities aligned with project objectives, timelines, budget requirements, and quality standards. It supports smooth collaboration among partners while ensuring transparent communication and efficient information flow across the consortium.

Within JARED, WP1 is responsible for project governance, financial monitoring, quality assurance, and risk management. By establishing clear coordination mechanisms and maintaining strong oversight of progress and deliverables, the Work Package helps ensure that the Joint Action is implemented efficiently and consistently across participating countries. This coordinated approach creates the foundation needed for achieving sustainable improvements in respiratory health across Europe.

Our Work Package focuses on systematically evaluating progress and results to ensure that the Joint Action achieves meaningful and sustainable outcomes. The evaluation is conducted through biannual reports, in which we collect and analyse predefined indicators aligned with the overall evaluation strategy to monitor implementation and performance. In addition to tracking activities, we assess the broader impact of the Joint Action to understand its added value and contribution to respiratory health objectives. Within JARED, this approach strengthens transparency, accountability, and continuous learning across partners. By measuring both progress and impact, the Work Package helps ensure that coordinated European efforts translate into tangible improvements in respiratory health.

WP4 Leader

WP4 focuses on ensuring the long-term sustainability and lasting impact of the JARED project beyond the duration of EU funding. The Work Package aims to strengthen stakeholder engagement, build strategic partnerships, support policy integration, and secure opportunities for future collaboration and funding. By prioritising sustainability from the outset, WP4 helps ensure that the project’s achievements continue to contribute to improving respiratory health across Europe.
Within JARED, WP4 promotes collaboration between healthcare professionals, policymakers, patient organisations, and other stakeholders through advisory structures and engagement activities. It also supports the development of evidence-based policy recommendations and fosters connections with other initiatives to maximise impact and knowledge sharing. Through these activities, WP4 contributes to creating long-term, sustainable solutions for reducing the burden of chronic respiratory diseases and advancing health equity across Europe.

Work Package 5 focuses on strengthening respiratory disease prevention across the life course by addressing four key areas: early childhood vaccination, smoking prevention and cessation, air quality improvement, and infection prevention in elderly care settings. Through coordinated situation analyses and jointly developed training and guidance materials, the Work Package builds harmonised evidence base and strengthens professional capacity across Member States. Within the JARED project, these activities are expected to improve prevention practices, enhance communication with patients and caregivers, and support implementation of effective public health interventions. This work is essential for advancing respiratory health in Europe, as it targets major modifiable risk factors and vulnerable populations while promoting consistent, evidence-based approaches across diverse health systems. Ultimately, it contributes to reducing the burden of respiratory diseases and improving health outcomes across the lifespan.

WP6 Leader

WP6 focuses on the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs), which impose a substantial burden on patients, healthcare systems, and society and are often under-diagnosed or diagnosed too late. Within JARED, this Work Package aims to improve awareness and diagnostic capacity—particularly for obstructive lung diseases—by strengthening case finding, expanding and improving the use of spirometry in primary care, and developing new screening approaches for asthma and COPD. It also seeks to enhance disease management through better cooperation between primary and secondary care, novel consultation models, and stronger support for patient self-management. In addition, WP6 will identify and describe best practices and patient pathways for conditions such as sarcoidosis, other interstitial lung diseases, tuberculosis, and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. By promoting earlier diagnosis and more effective, integrated care, WP6 contributes directly to reducing the burden of respiratory diseases and advancing respiratory health across Europe.

WP7 Leader

Living with Chronic Respiratory Diseases: A Life-Span Approach – is dedicated to developing and implementing innovative, patient-centred strategies that improve the daily lives of people living with COPD and other chronic respiratory diseases. By adopting a life-span perspective, we promote sustained self-management through digital health tools, continuous education for patients and families, and targeted efforts to reduce stigma and communication barriers. Within JARED, WP7 contributes by developing integrated and sustainable models of support that bridge healthcare systems and community settings. This approach is essential for strengthening respiratory health in Europe, reframing chronic respiratory disease not only as a medical condition to be treated, but as a lifelong journey requiring empowerment, inclusion, and long-term support.

WP8 Leader

WP8, “Reach-out to high-risk vulnerable people,” seeks to enhance health literacy and self-management capacities while facilitating access to healthcare services for people living with chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs). It also supports self-management and workplace-based strategies for workers exposed to occupational or environmental risks associated with CRDs. Within JARED, particular attention is given to geographically or socially disadvantaged groups, through the use of innovative digital health solutions (e.g., telemedicine) to empower patients to independently monitor their health conditions and support healthcare providers in optimizing patient management.
