The Polish Federation of Asthma, Allergy and COPD Patients’ Associations (POLFED) recently visited the Kornel Makuszyński Primary School, in Legionowo, Poland, to talk to students about lung health.

On 1 December, POLFED met with children from 7-10 years of age, delivering a specifically tailored educational programme in the presence of parents, teachers and the administration of the school. Two separate interactive sessions took place and introduced the students to the importance of healthy lungs.

The following day, POLFED returned to school and successfully delivered a second round of educational sessions to students 10-12 years of age.

“It was truly wonderful! The children were engaged, the teachers were very interested and the school administration was very friendly”, said Anna Andrałojć, LH4L Work Package 4 leader, who organised and participated in the activities.

With all materials prepared, POLFED is ready to continue delivering educational sessions, as well as lung function testings to promote education on lung health and prevention from early ages.

“Following one year of preparation, discussions and coordination among different countries and partners, I am very glad to see our vision coming to life. We are looking forward to starting and delivering all our interventions in Poland, Hungary and Portugal”, said Vlatka Matkovic, project manager and Work Package 1 leader.
