A new paper from the SHARP Clinical Research Collaboration has been accepted for publication in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe.
Entitled “Multimorbidity phenotypes and associated characteristics in severe asthma: An observational study of European severe asthma registries”, the study analyses data from nearly 2,700 patients across 11 European countries.
The paper shows that people with severe asthma often live with multiple other health conditions that cluster into distinct and reproducible patterns across Europe.
These multimorbidity patterns are linked to asthma severity, treatment needs, and health outcomes, highlighting the importance of caring for the whole patient.
The findings support a more personalised approach to severe asthma management that takes co-existing conditions into account.
