Interview with Prof. Sébastien Couraud from Hospices Civils de Lyon

What is the current situation in your country, in terms of lung cancer screening?

Up to now, France does not have a LCS program in place. A national pilot program will start next year.

What do you hope to achieve with SOLACE and what your message would be to other countries?

We hope to demonstrate that with the right funding, methods and tools we can improve cancer screening attendance and reach the most vulnerable populations. Thus we can show that prevention medicine is a key to improve population health and decrease medical expenses at a country level.

What is your role and contribution to the project?

We contribute by feeding the databases with valuable data from participants who have visited our mobile screening unit.

Why SOLACE is important to you?

SOLACE offered a way to give credibility and funding to our mobile lung cancer screening so it could be a useful tool to reach the unreachable. It also granted us access to the best experts in the fields and compare our methods and research.
