The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has launched a groundbreaking pilot programme called the Beaumont RCSI Irish Cancer Society Lung Health Check.
The pilot involves using mobile scanning units and it targets high-risk individuals in the communities of North Dublin and the North-East, including current and former smokers. It is expected to significantly increase early lung cancer diagnosis rates.
It is funded by the Irish Cancer Society and supported by the EU4Health SOLACE consortium and the Department of Health’s Women’s Health Fund.
