Lungs Europe welcomes a new College of Commissioners and hopes for effective collaboration in support of lung health

The European Respiratory Society and European Lung Foundation believe that respiratory health should remain high on the agenda of the European Commission. We are ready to work with key stakeholders to achieve this goal and we welcome the newly appointed Commissioners.

We identified the following Commissioners, whose portfolios are relevant to respiratory health:

  • Olivér Várhelyi, Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare
  • Jessika Roswall, Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy
  • Ekaterina Zaharieva, Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation
  • Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management
  • Wopke Hoekstra, Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth

We look forward to working together effectively over the next 5 years. We believe that healthcare policy should be patient-centred and evidence-based and will continue to consult with patients and professionals in delivering key advocacy messages to EU policymakers. We also hope to see more EU-funding for respiratory health in EU research projects.

Together we can work to improve the respiratory health of all Europeans.
