Healthy Lungs for Life encourages individuals, communities, schools and organisations to take action for lung health by holding their own awareness activities and events. The aim is simple: help more people understand lung health and the steps we can all take to protect it.
You do not need funding or specialist experience to take part, just an idea and the support of our campaign resources.

Holding an event is a simple and effective way to raise awareness of lung health in your community. It can help start conversations, share trusted information and encourage small changes that support healthier lifestyles.
Events also bring people together around shared goals, helping to strengthen local engagement with lung health and wider public health messages.
There is no single format for a Healthy Lungs for Life event. Activities can be adapted depending on your audience, setting and resources. Examples include community walks or physical activity sessions, school awareness activities, workplace wellbeing events, information stands in public spaces, educational talks, or local awareness campaigns linked to health days or community programmes.
Events can focus on one theme or combine several aspects of lung health, depending on what is most relevant for your audience.
Healthy Lungs for Life events have taken place in communities, schools, workplaces and healthcare settings across Europe and around the world. These activities show the many different ways people can take part and adapt campaign themes to local needs.
Organising an event can be simple and flexible. Most activities follow a few key steps:
You can scale your event to suit your time, capacity and experience. Even small activities can have a meaningful impact.
Healthy Lungs for Life provides free resources to help you plan and deliver your event. These include campaign messaging, visual materials, social media content and educational information across all campaign themes.
Resources coming soon
If you are planning a larger initiative or community programme, you may be eligible to apply for support through the Healthy Lungs for Life grants programme. Funding is not required to run an event, but it may help support more extensive or community-wide activities.
We encourage organisers to share their Healthy Lungs for Life activities so others can learn from and be inspired by your work. Selected events may be featured in campaign communications and resources.
