Why hold an event?

Holding an event is a simple and effective way to raise awareness of lung health. It can help start conversations, share trusted information and encourage small changes that support healthier lifestyles.

Events also bring people together around shared goals, helping to strengthen local engagement with lung health and wider public health messages.

What kind of events can you hold?

There is no single format for a Healthy Lungs for Life event. Activities can be adapted depending on your audience, setting and resources. Examples include community walks or physical activity sessions, school awareness activities, workplace wellbeing events, information stands in public spaces, educational talks, or local awareness campaigns linked to health days or community programmes.

Events can focus on one theme or combine several aspects of lung health, depending on what is most relevant for your audience.

Healthy Lungs for Life events have taken place in communities, schools, workplaces and healthcare settings across Europe and around the world.

Funded activities and grants

If you are planning a larger initiative or community programme, you may be eligible to apply for support through the Healthy Lungs for Life grants programme. Funding is not required to run an event, but it may help support more extensive or community-wide activities.
