Woman doing a lung function test at home

ELF Patient Organisation Networking Day 2022

Time: 10:30 – 16:00 CEST

This event will focus on self-management to help patient organisations explore how they can support their patient communities to self-manage their health conditions

People living with lung conditions manage their health and wellbeing on a day-to-day basis. Supported self-management has been shown to help patients in maintaining their quality of life alongside a chronic disease. Supporting people with long-term conditions to self-manage their disease is a fundamental part of high-quality care. During the event we will consider key questions for patient organisations such as:

  • How can patient organisations play an active role in supporting self-management?
  • How can self-management programmes be tailored to the individual?
  • What are the lessons learned?

Our event will include inspiring talks from experts in self-management, people living with lung conditions and patient organisations active in this field. There will be a chance to explore the opportunities and challenges patient organisations face in supporting self-management as we share and learn from each other.

We do hope you will be able to join with us on 31 August 2022.

A full programme will be added to this event page in due course – register now to receive updates.

The talks will be recorded and made available after the event on the ELF website.

ELF Patient organisation networking day is open to members of the ELF patient organisation network. Joining the network is free and is open to all respiratory patient organisations in Europe.

Share your experience

We are now inviting patient organisations to share their experiences and resources during the event.

This could include, for example:

  • tools your organisation has developed to help patients better manage their disease
  • how your organisation has advocated for improved self-management support
  • how you have set up or collaborated in a self-management project, or
  • anything in this topic area that would be of interest to other patient organisations.

Organisations can apply to share their experience in a range of ways:

  • 10 minute presentation during the online event
  • poster and 1 minute introductory video in advance
  • share a self-management resource on the ELF website.

Please note all presentations and materials must be available in English.

Please complete this brief questionnaire if you are interested in sharing your self-management experience.

The closing date to apply is 17 June 2022.

Support ELF events

ELF does not charge for its events. It wants to make sure they are available to anybody who wishes to join. To ensure we can keep doing this we ask that those who can afford to pay to consider making a donation. We are grateful to everyone who supports us in this way and helps lung health patients to have their voices heard.
