The ERS International Congress 2021 will take place online on 5-8 September 2021. On this page you can find out everything you need to know about attending the ERS Congress 2021 as a patient or patient organisation representative.
Each year during the ERS Congress, ELF holds a free Patient Organisation Networking Day. It gathers representatives of organisations in the ELF Patient Organisation Network together to discuss important topics in lung health and to network with other organisations from across Europe.
This year the Day will be held online on 2 September 2021 at 10:30-15:45 CEST.
The theme this year is ‘Digital Health’. There will be keynote speakers and a range of presentations from patient organisations, as well as a chance to discuss in small groups during breakout sessions.
For more information, to access the programme and to register your place, please visit the event page.
ELF and ERS are delighted to offer representatives of patient organisations in the ELF Patient Organisation Network the reduced ERS member rate to attend the ERS Congress.
Full details of the rates can be found on the ERS Congress website.
To register as a patient representative, please complete the online form.
Together with members of ELF Patient Advisory Groups, we have developed ‘Patient Tracks’. These are designed to help patients and patient representatives who are attending the ERS Congress to see which sessions are the most patient-focussed and help them decide which sessions they would like to attend.
We have developed a Patient Track for general respiratory disease areas and another one specifically for rare lung conditions.

Each year, the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign, which is run by ELF and ERS, has a strong presence during the ERS Congress.
During the COVID-19 pandemic we still want to ensure that the key messages of the campaign are spread among ERS Congress delegates, other stakeholders and members of the public. For the second year in a row we are running a virtual event to raise awareness and funds for the campaign.
This year, we want to encourage all interested parties to #TakeTheActiveOption in September, to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity for healthy lungs as well as to raise money for the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign. The challenge consists of doing at least 21 minutes per day, or 150 minutes per week (as recommended by the World Health Organization), of physical activity throughout September.
You can take part individually or as part of a team and it is open to anyone of any ability!
To find out more, sign up to the challenge and access materials, please visit the event page.
