Air France
Oxygen Therapy provided by Air France
Air France can provide therapeutic oxygen on board - this service is available for a fee and must be requested during booking, no less than 48 hours before your departure. In most cases, passengers are offered a kit (Wenoll WS120) that has been specially designed for air travel. This system functions “on demand” (rather than providing “continuous” oxygen). The system is extremely compact, with 600 litres of oxygen, enabling passengers to travel safely on long-haul flights. As long as your oxygen needs do not surpass 2,8 liters per minute, you will not need any kind of medical certificate to use this equipment. Otherwise, you may be offered an alternative solution, if it exists. You will be asked for a medical certificate.
This service may not be available when departing from certain airports or on certain flights, passengers can find out if this is the case during booking.
Use of respiratory devices
Air France allows the use of POCs. These devices can be used throughout the entire flight, however, the aircrafts cannot always provide you with a power source. Therefore, Air France recommend that you verify your device's ability to power itself and come prepared with additional batteries.The number of lithium batteries authorized on board is limited; please seek more information during booking. They ask that they are notified at least 48 hours before departure of a passanger's need for use of respiratory devices. The following POCs are authorised for use of Air France aircrafts:
- AirSep FreeStyle
- AirSep LifeStyle
- AirSep Focus
- AirSep FreeStyle 5

Power Supplies
Seats in Air France's La Première/First, Business and Premium Economy long-haul aircraft (Airbus A330-A340-A380 and Boeing 747 and 777) are equipped with power outlets that enable you to plug in approved respiratory devices. However, Air France aircrafts do not have all types of power outlets needed to plug in respiratory devices on board. Power outlets are disabled before and during takeoff and landing. They can also be disabled at any time by the crew if necessary. If you wish to plug in an approved respiratory device, please check that its total wattage does not exceed 75W. Attempting to use a device whose wattage exceeds 75W will automatically disable the power outlet. Please bring batteries with you to maintain power even during periods when power outlets have been disabled. Please note: Air France aircraft do not have all types of power outlets needed to plug in respiratory devices on board. Please contact customer service before your departure for specific information. The power outlets available on our aircraft can be used to power any connected electronic device, but they cannot recharge these devices.
Personal Oxygen Tanks
Air France allows the transport, but not the use of, personal oxygen tanks meeting the following requirements:
- the height does not exceed 65 cm / 26 in maximum,
- the weight is less than or equal to 5 kg / 11 lb,
- they are equipped with a safety system that protects against the accidental discharge of their content.
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you plan on transporting a persnal oxygen tank.

American Airlines
Phone numbers for different countries outside the UK are available here.
American Airlines do not provide oxygen for passengers, nor do they allow passengers to bring their own oxygen on board, only portable oxygen concentrators (POCs).
American Airlines allows passengers to bring POCs, and suggests that you check in at the gate at least an hour before scheduled boarding so that an agent can:
- Test that you can operate the POC and respond to its alarm
- Explain the phases of the flight when the POC will be operable
- Check your supply of fully charged batteries to power the POC no less than 150% for the duration of the flight and ground connection time (including unanticipated delays)
They also ask that the passenger adheres to the following requirements:
- POC must fit underneath the seat in front of you
- You can't sit in an emergency exit, bulkhead or any seat that blocks another passenger's aisle access if you have a POC inflight
- You may use your POC while moving about the cabin as long as the "fasten seatbelt" sign is not illuminated
For battery operated mobility devices, contact Special Assistance to make sure the battery type is approved for travel and for any other special assistance travel requests.
POCs that cannot be used in-flight
FAA Regulations prohibit the use and transportation of other personal oxygen units, including those that contain compressed or liquid oxygen because they are classified as hazardous materials. POCs must be free of oil, grease or other petroleum products, in good condition, free from damage or other signs of excessive wear or abuse. SeQual Eclipse (models 1000, 1000A, and 1000B) and SeQual Eclipse SAROS may not be used on Republic Airlines. These models are too large to fit under the seat for use on board the aircraft. These models may be transported in the cabin as assistive devices and stowed in the overhead compartments but cannot be used on board the aircraft.

Braathens Regional Airways
B.R.A offers the passenger the opportunity to bring medical oxygen.
Please note that B.R.A can only transport certain types of oxygen, while others are inappropriate for transporting on-board our airplanes. Therefore, they need all the information from you regarding measurements, content, type of electrical unit and more.
To guarantee that their safety rules are followed, and to ease the handling of your helping aid, it is very important that you read the information and answer a number of questions about you and your helping aid in a form.
Please note that the form should be sent to B.R.A no later than 48 hours before departure.
Rules for oxygen bottles
The following applies for transporting oxygen bottles on their flights:
- The total gross weight of the oxygen bottles can not be more than 5 kg
- You are not allowed to bring liquid oxygen on board.
Electronic form for transporting oxygen bottles can be found here
To travel with oxygen and portable electric medical helping aids
- Your medical helping aid should:
(i) be stowed under the seat in front of you during taxi, take-off and landing, so it does not prevent the availability to or in the aisle;
(ii) (if used during the flight) be used in a way that it does not prevent access to emergency equipment and/or emergency exits. - When the "fasten seatbelt sign" is turned off, it is allowed to use your helping aid and, at the same time, move freely in the cabin.
- The user needs to make sure that the helping aid is free from oil or other petroleum products and that the unit is safe condition.
- The user needs to hear, see and have the opportunity to follow and act on the alarms that the helping aid can indicate. In those cases where these demands cannot be met, the user needs to be assisted by a person who can follow these demands.
- The user is responsible to bring the right amount of extra batteries so that the device does not stop working during any part of the trip where the passenger has stated that he/she is in need of the helping aid. The calculation should with good margins take in consideration to possible delays during the trip.
- Bring and be prepared to show "the doctor's statement" for the staff (does not apply to bringing oxygen bottles).

- Customers may bring a FAA approved portable oxygen concentrator (for more information please visit the FAA website https://www.faa.gov).
- Customers must have sufficient battery provision for 150% of the flight duration (accounting for unexpected delays).
- Customers need to obtain medical clearance in advance to bring a portable oxygen concentrator. Medical forms should be despatched to the medical clearance team a minimum of 7 days prior to departure.
- If your reservation is booked through British Airways but is operated by another airline, please check their own criteria for accepting portable oxygen concentrators on-board.
Oxygen Cylinders
- Customers may bring oxygen cylinders, providing they are manufactured specifically for the purposes of containing and transporting oxygen.
- Each cylinder and its contents must not exceed 5kgs in weight.
- Only one customer per flight will be permitted to bring their own oxygen cylinders on board.
- British Airways Health Services will advise on the volume of oxygen customers should bring during the medical clearance process.
- Cylinders, valves and regulators, where fitted, must be protected from damage that could result in inadvertent release of the contents.
- Liquid oxygen and oxygen generators are forbidden on board the aircraft.
- Customers need to obtain medical clearance in advance to bring their own oxygen cylinders. Medical forms should be despatched to the medical clearance team a minimum of 7 days prior to departure.
Long haul flights
British Airways can only provide in-flight therapeutic oxygen to one person on board so if you need to use oxygen you must book it in advance. It's important to contact the Passenger Medical Clearance Unit to check availability prior to booking your flights. Please note they cannot provide oxygen on the ground at an airport.
On board the Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 aircrafts they offer the Avia Technique Pulse dose cylinder: Oxygen is provided ‘on demand’ and your Doctor will need to confirm that you can use this.
There is no charge for in-flight therapeutic oxygen.
If therapeutic oxygen is required, you will need medical clearance to fly. Please allow the medical clearance team 48 hours to process your request. Medical forms should be despatched to the team a minimum of 7 days prior to departure.

Jettime
Passengers with a lung disease – regardless of the stage – must have authorisation from Jet Time to fly. You should contact Jet Time's Passenger Service so they can approve your trip
In most cases, you will be asked to submit a Medical Information Form (MEDIF) completed, signed and stamped by your doctor or pulmonary specialist.
You will normally receive an acceptance from us or information about any conditions soon after KLM have received the completed MEDIF form. If your own doctor/GP deems that you may need oxygen on board, you have to bring it yourself for both out- and homebound flights.
Passengers must carry enough oxygen to last the whole flight, and an additional 50 per cent. By prior arrangement with Jet Time, you can bring your own oxygen cylinder. Alternatively, you can obtain an oxygen cylinder via the Time Passenger Service, preferably 14 days prior to departure. Price is 2000 DKK/SEK/NOK or 275 EUR per ordered cylinder.
Jet Time recommends that you carry an oxygen concentrator rather than oxygen cylinders. It is not possible to charge batteries on a Jet Time flight so passengers should ensure they fetch batteries with charge equal to the total flight time + 50 per cent.

Latam
When you fly with LATAM, you can transport a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) at no cost, provided you comply with the transport conditions.
Conditions for the use of a POC:
This service is available only for LATAM flights.
On codeshare flights between LATAM and other airlines, you must check the acceptance conditions directly with the companies involved in the trip.
You must have a medical certificate (MEDIF) that explains the conditions of its use and your state of health. This document is subject to evaluation by a LATAM doctor and must be sent at least 48 hours before flight departure.
You must be able to hear the alarms that the POC may emit, be able to see the indicators and react accordingly. Otherwise, you must travel with a companion who is capable of doing so.
If the size of the POC complies with the measurements and characteristics of a personal item you may carry it with you throughout the entire flight or under the seat in front of you, unless you are in the first row or an emergency exit row. On the other hand, if its measurements qualify it as carry-on-baggage you must keep it in the overhead compartment during taxiing, take-off and landing.
The POC may remain connected throughout the trip as long as it is located under the seat in front of you. If it needs to be kept in the overhead compartment, it must be disconnected and not in use during taxiing, take-off and landing.

The POC's batteries must have a capacity equivalent to 150% of the flight time, including layovers and connections. The batteries must also be in good condition and come individually packaged in order to prevent them from coming into contact with each other.

- You must have enough fully charged batteries to power your POC for the scheduled flight duration as well as any unanticipated delays.
- Extra batteries are accepted in carry-on baggage only and battery terminals must be either recessed or packaged to prevent contact with metal objects (short circuit), including the terminals of other batteries.
WestJet accepts oxygen on most flights operating within Canada. They do not permit gaseous oxygen on flights operated using our Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
A maximum of two guests with a maximum of two cylinders per guest may travelwith gaseous oxygen cylinders as follows:
- when the necessary documentation has been provided;
- only on WestJet-operated flights within Canada;
- in the cabin as a carry-on medical device;
- if the cylinder can be safely and securely stowed under the seat in front of you;
- if the cylinder is free of cracks, defects or other visible damage and free of flammable contaminants, such as any oily residues;
- if the cylinder has a regulator attached and the regulator is protected from damage that could cause inadvertent release of the contents. Regulators cannot be changed during the flight. Oxygen cylinders without a regulator will not be accepted for transport due to safety reasons – WestJet cannot assume responsibility for oxygen cylinders that are not accepted for travel. If you are travelling with a battery-operated regulator for your oxygen cylinder you are required to bring enough batteries to reach your final destination, including any unanticipated delays
Length: 41.9 cm/16.5 inches (excluding the cylinder's content gauge and regulator)
In order to travel with gaseous oxygen, you must provide the following two signed and dated statements at check-in and upon boarding:
Statement one – on your physician's letterhead which must:
- be issued no more than one year before your flight's departure date;
- acknowledge that you are required to use medical oxygen;
- indicate the maximum flow rate, maximum quantity of oxygen per hour and the maximum quantity of oxygen required for the flight(s);
- confirm that you have been trained on the operation and use of your oxygen cylinder (if you are unable to do so, we strongly suggest you travel with a personal attendant who can assist you).
Statement two – on your oxygen supplier's letterhead which must:
- be issued no more than one year before your flight's departure date;
- indicate the model number of each medical oxygen cylinder; and verify that each cylinder:
- conforms with the manufacturing, packaging, marking and labelling requirements of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations;
- has been maintained by a Canadian supplier in accordance with applicable standards;
- has been hydrostatic tested by a Canadian supplier in accordance with applicable standards;
- gauge does not exceed the rated cylinder pressure.
Some seats are restricted when travelling with oxygen, including bulkhead seating. We recommend specific seating locations, to ensure adequate spacing for the oxygen cylinder.

YanAir
YanAir allows you to use your own oxygen apparatus (cylinders, portable oxygen concentrators, fans, respirators and other oxygen or air handling units) for medical purposes in accordance with the recommendations set out in the medical certificate. You must seek prior approval from the airline
A request for the carriage of your own oxygen vehicle on board an aircraft should be made no later than 48 hours prior to departure of the flight on a scheduled flight.
When booking, you must provide:
- A doctor's request for the use of oxygen by a passenger for medical purposes during a flight.
- Information on the type, manufacturer, weight and dimensions of the oxygen machine.
- Safety Data Sheet or other equivalent document on an oxygen machine.
You can pre-order service at the airline's cash desk.
Power supplies for a portable oxygen concentrator should be sufficient for flight time, transmissions and unexpected delays. Power supplies containing lithium can be of two types, depending on the content of lithium they contain: Power supplies containing up to 8 g of lithium: allowed in unlimited quantities. Power supplies containing from 8 g to 25 g of lithium: 2 units are allowed - each in a separate package to prevent short circuits.For one passenger indicated in the MEDIF medical report, it is allowed to transport small personal small cylinders for a sufficient quantity of air - up to 5 kg gross each - with gaseous oxygen or air for medical purposes only, in the form of checked baggage or cabin baggage. Again this is required to be preapproved by the airline
Cylinders, valves and regulators, if any, should be protected from damage to prevent the spontaneous leakage of the contents. Transportation by air transport of liquid oxygen cylinders is prohibited. Under no circumstances should the use of an oxygen kit (a cylinder and an oxygen mask) be used during take-off and landing.
During a horizontal flight, the use of an oxygen kit (a cylinder and an oxygen mask) in medical needs should be controlled by a flight attendant.
