Contribute to EU consultations on future health priorities and novel tobacco regulation

In June we are featuring two opportunities for patients to provide input for EU initiatives. One is a targeted consultation aiming to gather opinions on strategic priorities for the 2023 EU4Health Work Programme. Second – a call for evidence on emerging products under evaluation of the current tobacco control framework.

ELF is inviting you to express your opinion about these two subjects in the currently open EU consultation processes this month.

2023 Stakeholders' Targeted Consultation on EU4Health priorities, strategic orientations and needs

The European Commission has recently launched a targeted consultation allowing the European health community to express their views on current and future EU health priorities and strategic orientations.  The survey also contains questions on key health needs to be addressed through the next EU4Health annual Work Programmes.

Health actors – both individuals and organisations representing patients, civil society, and other parties active in public health and social issues; healthcare professionals and healthcare providers; researchers; academia and expert networks are welcome to provide their contributions.

It is crucial for the patient community to have a say in shaping the European health priorities for the coming years as it will define the main areas of action and funding to those identified fields. Deadline to submit your response to this survey is 27 June 2022.

Call for evidence under evaluation of the legislative framework for tobacco control

In light of the quick increase in new products and recent technical developments, the European Commission will evaluate the current tobacco control legislative framework. The evaluation will look at how products are regulated and advertised, promoted and sponsored, in the broader context of other related tobacco control policies. This evaluation will assess to what extent the framework has fulfilled its goals. In addition, it should be able to support a ‘Tobacco-Free Generation’ by 2040, as announced in the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

This call for evidence on new products is open for individuals and organisations, but in order to contribute you’ll need to register or login using an existing social media account.

Feedback period for this call is 20 May – 17 June 2022. ELF will be submitting a response to the call and if you wish to contribute, please get in touch with your suggestions before 15 June.
