Europe’s path to the Tobacco Products Directive 3.0

The MEP Lung Health Group joined forces on the 29 June 2021 with MEPs Against Cancer and the MEP Heart Group for a special policy dialogue on ‘Europe’s path to the Tobacco Products Directive 3.0’.

The event focused on the lessons learnt from implementing the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) and discussed concrete recommendations to improve the TPD ahead of its upcoming revision. Among the represented stakeholders were the European Commission, the European Parliament, WHO Europe, civil society and the scientific community.

MEP Moretti from the MEP Lung Health Group emphasised the need to regulate novel tobacco products due their health effects to ensure they don’t become a gateway to smoking for young people. She also nicely emphasised the fact that the scientific community already knows what works in terms of tobacco control and this is what we should do!
