Join our Youth Group

ELF strives to improve lung health and advance diagnosis, treatment and care through awareness and education. We work with our partners and volunteers across Europe to ensure we can represent patients and people living with chronic lung conditions.

Lung conditions can affect people of all ages.

Young people have a lot to give to the lung patient community, healthcare professionals and projects that focus on lung health, but they are often underrepresented in these important conversations around activities. To tackle this and ensure that we are meeting the needs of young people living with a lung condition, we launched the ELF Youth Group.

Get involved!

ELF is recruiting people between the ages of 16 and  24 years old, living with a lung condition. There are many ways to get involved from sharing your experiences of living with a lung condition, to other advocacy activities and campaigning opportunities. This is your chance to have your voice heard!

Why join the Youth Group?

  • To offer fresh and unique insights into living with a lung condition as a young person.
  • To empower other young people with lung conditions to contribute to research and policy making.
  • To challenge stigma and misinformation and raise awareness of key issues.
  • To help create a safe environment where young people feel comfortable discussing their experiences.
  • To gain experience in advocacy and campaigning.

I would encourage anyone aged 16-24 suffering from a lung condition to take part in the ELF Youth Group and to not be scared to say something or question what something means, because at the end of the day everyone understanding and collaborating is going to be the best way that we can help others and ourselves to live full and active lives with these conditions. – Ed Powell, 17 years old, Chair of the Youth Group and bronchiectasis patient advisory group.
