The FFAAIR and its 60 associations in all France work to favour the improving of patients’ life quality, to protect their interests, to promote health policies adapted to the need of patients. The FFAAIR is managed by volunteers: patients and sympathisers. This Federation is involved in actions concerning the information and the protection of the patients’ rights in the framework of the recognition of the respiratory diseases. The FFAAIR has elaborated the Charter of the patients who receive the care at home. This Chart determines the rights and responsibilities of home-care personnel and the patients.

The Malta Health Network (MHN) promotes the health-related interests of patients and the wider community by updating itself about international ‘best practices’ and ‘capacity-building’. The MHN achieves this through its regular contacts with local and international health-related Governmental Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, ‘Not-for-Profit’ Organisations and Patient Representative Groups. The MHN strives to give patients a voice in health-related for a in Malta, in the EU and internationally. The MHN is independent of the Government of Malta and of any political party or organisation. When the MHN was established in 2007, it represented 20 founder-organisations: today it represents over 30. The MHN is especially active in promoting The European Charter of Patients’ Rights.

Our approach:

The Respiratory Diseases and Allergy Foundation (RDAF) will commence with a particular focus on:

• Education - How to keep your lungs healthy and understanding the symptoms of lung diseases.
• Awareness - Observe lung health month "November" in conjunction with lung health campaigns.
• Advocacy - Ensure lung health is a national priority. Focusing on early detection of lung disease (including lung cancer) and addressing inequalities.
• Information - Publish information about all aspects of lung health and all lung diseases including lung cancer.
• Research - Promote quality research in to lung health, including the prevention, detection and treatment of lung disorders.

Aims/objectives:

• To promote continuing education about lung health, associated life style issues and matters connected to respiratory diseases through awareness creation.
• To give opportunity to health care professionals (students, nurses, doctors, public health workers etc) to acquire skills and knowledge in respiratory health through internship programs.
• To promote equitable access to evidence based care for respiratory diseases.
