Bakir is a member of the ELF Youth Group. Here, he reflects on his experiences living with asthma.
My name is Bakir and I am 15 years old. I come from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a small country in Europe. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 2 years old and I am an active football player and full time youth athlete.
Although doctors have advised me that I should not play sports because of my condition, I am determined to show that you should not let your condition stop you from doing what you want to do. Joining the ELF Youth Group gives me the opportunity to make my voice heard and encourage other young people living with a lung condition to do the same.
If you, like Bakir, want to join us on our mission to improve lung health of young people living with lung conditions worldwide, learn more about our Youth Group and get involved!
