Between 5-13 May 2021 Music for Wellbeing Community Interest Company (CIC) ran a series of events in Salisbury, UK. The events aimed to support people with lung conditions to become more active and to connect them with healthcare professionals and people in similar situations.

“… people with lung health conditions and breathlessness in South Wiltshire are feeling the impact [of COVID-19 restrictions]. People are feeling socially isolated and are losing physical conditioning, which in turn is having an effect on their lung health condition.”

There were 10 events which spanned from talks, to dance classes, tai chi, to singing. Overall, there were 77 participants across the week, 29 of whom were new to Music for Wellbeing. The project team recorded videos to use in future education and outreach activities.

All participants who provided feedback said the event(s) they attended were either very good or excellent. Since the events, Music for Wellbeing CIC have been asked about running a support group and about setting up regular fitness, creative dance, and tai chi classes. They are currently exploring partnerships with the session facilitators to set up regular classes from September.
