From air pollution, smoke and cleaning products to fragrances, mould, allergens and substances encountered at work, the air around us can contain many different exposures. Researchers are increasingly interested in the inhaled exposome: the total combination of things a person breathes in over time, both indoors and outdoors.

The survey is part of EXPLAIN-IT, a European Respiratory Society (ERS) research collaboration bringing together patients, clinicians and researchers to understand how the air we breathe contributes to chronic lung disease.

Why take part?

Your responses will help EXPLAIN-IT understand:

  • How familiar people are with the idea of the inhaled exposome.
  • Which everyday exposures people consider most important.
  • Whether people have noticed effects on their breathing or symptoms.
  • What information, tools and research priorities would be most useful.

The findings will directly help shape the project’s future work, including the topics it focuses on and the resources it develops with patients. By sharing your experiences, you can help ensure that research on lung health reflects the exposures and concerns that matter most to people in everyday life.

Complete the survey today and help shape the future of EXPLAIN-IT.
