A range of events, funded by a Healthy Lungs for Life grant, were held across Nepal to mark World Lung Day 2022.

Events targeted members of the public, schools and policy makers and highlighted the four themes of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign: Breathe Clean Air, Be Smoke Free, Take the Active Option and Vaccinate.

Campaign events

  • Flash mob followed by an awareness programme held in Basantapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The aim was to raise awareness about lung health and chronic respiratory conditions. The event was able to directly reach 500 people.
  • Trained 15 young people to be school ambassadors for Healthy Lungs Nepal. They can go on to reach 1400 young people at their respective schools with messaging about lung health and preventative measures.
  • A community awareness program for Healthy Lungs was organized in the marginalized community in Itahari Submetropolitian city.
  • An online art and video competition that aimed to generate interest in lung health and reach new audiences on social media. the winning entry can be found here.
