On Saturday 29 November from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, ELF will host a free online patient conference for people living with or at risk of aspergillosis. The event will explore what aspergillosis is, its symptoms, treatment and ways to manage it. Attendees will also hear from people living with the condition. The conference aims to encourage discussions about aspergillosis and raise awareness of its impact.
The Aspergillosis Patient Conference will bring together experts and people living with aspergillosis to share knowledge, experiences and updates on care and research. The programme will include:
Participants will be able to take part in polls and submit questions throughout the session. All talks will be recorded and made available on this page after the event.
 
													Tom Bermingham is a Rural Development Specialist from Wexford, Ireland. Tom was diagnosed in 2022 with a complex mix of Aspergillosis, Bronchiectasis and severe adult onset Asthma. He is a member of the Aspergillosis patient advisory group for the European Lung Foundation.
 
													Lisa McNeil is Chair of The Aspergillosis Trust, a UK based patient-led charity dedicated to raising awareness and supporting those affected by aspergillosis. Diagnosed with bronchiectasis over 20 years ago and later with Aspergillus bronchitis, Lisa brings personal insight and advocacy experience to her role. She works alongside patients, clinicians, and researchers to improve understanding, care, and outcomes for people living with fungal lung conditions. Lisa is also a member of the Aspergillosis Patient Advisory group for the European Lung foundation.
 
													Marcela is a lawyer and member of the Aspergillosis Patient Advisory group. She was diagnosed with Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) and is a member of the European Lung Foundations Patient advisory group (PAG).
 
													Oxana Munteanu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pneumology & Allergology
State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemitanu", Republic of Moldova. Dr. Munteanu is a pulmonologist and medical director actively involved in academic and clinical leadership. She is a member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) taskforce on “Evidence-based minimum standard guideline for chronic pulmonary aspergillosis and guidance for excellent care” 
 
													Darius Armstrong-James is a Professor of Infectious Diseases and Medical Mycology in the Department of Microbiology, Imperial College London (UK) and honorary consultant physician in infectious diseases and medical mycology at Imperial College Healthcare and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals at Guy's and St. Thomas.
 
													Dr Mattia Nigro is a PhD Student at the Humanitas University and a Respiratory Unit Physician - IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital. Based in Italy, he is currently a member of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) taskforce ‘Evidence-based minimum standard guideline for chronic pulmonary aspergillosis and guidance for excellent care’
 
													Graham Atherton leads Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) at the National Aspergillosis Centre (NAC) in Manchester, UK, where he supports several clinical, educational, and research initiatives. He coordinates the CARES (Community, Awareness, Research, Education, Support) programme, which empowers patients and carers to take an active role in shaping research and service development for aspergillosis and related fungal diseases. Graham also serves as a member of the Aspergillosis Patient Advisory Group (PAG) for the European Lung Foundation (ELF), representing the UK in European discussions on patient experience, advocacy, and clinical priorities in fungal lung disease.
