This EPAP Live webinar took place from 12:30 to 13:45 CET on 20 February 2025 and focused on the impact of the Healthy Lungs for Life (HLFL) grants. Each year, ELF awards a series of €1,000 grants to organisations around the world to raise awareness of lung health.
The session took place ahead of launching the 2025 grant series. It included talks from previous Healthy Lungs for Life grant winners, who discussed their projects and the impact €1,000 can make to lung health. There was also an opportunity to ask questions in an interactive discussion.
This informative and interactive event was part of a series of live webinars related to the European Patient Ambassador Programme (EPAP). EPAP is a free, online, self-learning programme that introduces patients and carers to some of the basic skills and knowledge needed to represent yourself and others successfully.
The event was chaired by Katherine Wylie, Fundraising and Stakeholder Engagement Lead at Lungs Europe. Katherine was joined by previous Healthy Lungs for Life grant winners who spoke about their projects and the impact €1,000 can make to lung health.
Dr Abdul Mannan is the Coordinator of Research and Social Work at the Helping Hands Foundation. After receiving a Healthy Lungs for Life grant in 2022, he and his team have actively organised events in Pakistan to promote lung health awareness.
His initiative has reached to over 1,500 people on the importance of lung testing and the impact of air pollution. Through managing campaigns from schools to community, Dr Mannan is committed to improving lung health education and fostering a healthier future both locally and globally.
Ludmila is the coordinator of Charity Wheel NGO.
After receiving a Healthy Lungs for Life grant in 2024, Charity Wheel NGO have reached more than 1000 people within Moldova by sharing information leaflets and organising events within schools.
Ludmila is keen to raise awareness of lung health in Moldova and believes that receiving a Healthy Lungs for Life grant enabled the success of the campaign.
Pamela helps raise awareness and prevent lung infections within hard-to-reach communities through the Health Support Initiatives project.
Upon receiving a Healthy Lungs for Life grant in 2024, Health Support Initiatives offered vaccinations to over 400 children in Uganda, and educated 400 caregivers and community leaders about the importance of vaccination and clean air.
Pamela wants to raise awareness about how the grants can improve the prospects for lung health in communities across the world.
