Healthy Lungs for Life partners, healthcare professionals, patient organisations and advocates are invited to join the Healthy Lungs for Life Breathe Clean Air Meeting at ERS Congress 2026.
This meeting will bring together partners from across Europe to share ideas, experiences and practical approaches to improving lung health through cleaner air. Participants will explore how local activities, community engagement and advocacy can help raise awareness of air pollution as a health issue and support action at local, national and European levels.
The meeting follows the launch of the new Healthy Lungs for Life programme, supported by the Clean Air Fund, which will deliver lung health and air pollution awareness activities across Europe over the next two years. Through events, education activities, health checks and advocacy, the programme aims to strengthen public understanding of the impact of air pollution on health while supporting action that protects lungs and improves lives.
Across Europe, Healthy Lungs for Life partners are finding innovative ways to engage communities, raise awareness of air pollution and encourage healthier environments.
This session will provide an opportunity to learn from activities taking place in different countries, including work with schools, patient organisations, healthcare professionals, public health advocates and policymakers.
Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and discuss:
The discussion will also explore how community engagement activities can support implementation of the European Union’s Ambient Air Quality Directive and help build public support for cleaner air policies.
Healthy Lungs for Life is the public awareness campaign led by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and the European Lung Foundation (ELF).
The campaign works with local partners across Europe to promote healthier lungs through prevention, education and public engagement. Current activities focus on increasing awareness of the health impacts of air pollution and supporting action to reduce exposure to poor air quality.
By working with healthcare professionals, patient organisations, youth advocates, researchers and policymakers, Healthy Lungs for Life aims to make lung health a public priority and help create healthier environments for future generations.
The Healthy Lungs for Life Breathe Clean Air Meeting will bring together campaign partners and collaborators from across Europe to discuss upcoming activities, share experiences and explore opportunities to strengthen action on air pollution and lung health.
