The 2026 Healthy Lungs for Life grants campaign will open in March 2026. This year’s partners and our criteria for this year’s grants will be published soon. Grant winners will be announced in May 2026 for activities later this year.

About the grants scheme

The European Lung Foundation (ELF) offers grants to support organisers of lung health awareness events that align with one or more of the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign themes.

Not-for-profit organisations, patient groups and healthcare professionals can apply for a grant of up to €1,000 to support events and activities that promote lung health. Eligible activities should focus on one or more of the following aims:

  • Air quality: Increase knowledge of the impact of poor air quality on lung health and actions to reduce air pollution exposure.
  • Smoking cessation: Highlight the benefits of quitting smoking for lung health.
  • Physical activity: Promote the importance of physical activity for maintaining healthy lungs.
  • Vaccination: Raise awareness of vaccinations to prevent lung infections.
  • Climate change: Educate communities on the impact of climate change on lung health.

After the application deadline, the ELF team will collect all applications, anonymise them and send them to the Healthy Lungs for Life judging panel.

Grants will be awarded to applications demonstrating the most impact.
